Top Ten Tuesday is an original weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. However, we decided to take a page from Just Us Book Blog and split the Top Ten Tuesday posts between the two of us. We’ll each post our top five book choices (in no particular order) based on certain themes. If you would also like to participate, find out the rules by clicking here.
- Love & Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch ==> Yes! Take me to Tuscany, Italy. It has been a while since I read this book, but I love the setting. It is so romantic and just breathtaking.
2. Anna and the French Kiss By Stephanie Perkins. Paris, France. The city of love! I loved this series. I think I finished it very quickly because it was such a fast good read.
3. My Trip to Adele by. R.I Alyasser ==> Three individuals people are planning to go and watch Adele’s concert in Verona. All three come from different countries and cultures, so we get a glimpse of each of those countries: Morocco, Jordan, and Las Vegas. I really liked the description and the details in this book. I never went to Morocco, and after reading this book, I had to do lots of research about the country. Also.. Hello! the whole book is about Adele and how she inspires all of these three protagonists 🙂
4- The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho ==> I have read this book when I was in undergrad and it is still considered as one of my favorite books. It is very philosophical, but it in terrific way. The protagonist, Santiago, travels from Spain to the Egyptian desert to search for treasure. I read this book in my Novel 2 class, and the one thing that I’ll always remember is when my professor asked us, “What’s more important? the destination or the journey to the destination? 🙂
5- Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer ==> Can you imagine dropping everything and deciding to leave all your life behind to travel? This book was so inspirational and I loved very single minute of it. Christopher Johnson McCandless is my hero! His trip to Alaska and his determination to do what he wants to do are goals!!! I feel like I want to drop everything and just travel around the world! I don’t have the guts to do it though lol.
6. Under the Tuscan Sun by Frances Mayes ==> I was born in Italy, but because I left too young to remember much about my time there, I try to read as many books based on the country as I can. This book (and movie) really captures the beauty of Italy’s rural countryside, people, and inspirer of self-healing.
7. A Month of Italy: Rediscovering the Art of Vacation by Chris Brady ==> Another great book on Italy, which will hopefully prepare me for when I finally get to visit there someday.
8. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares ==> Anyone who’s read this series (or watched the two movies based on the books) knows that the pants have a way of not only bringing four best friends together but also giving them the courage to leap at what they desire, which includes going to other countries. I NEED those pants!!!
9. When Calls the Heart by Janette Oke ==> These last two are kind of cheating, but not really. My family always tells me I was born after my time. I have to agree because who wouldn’t want to travel back in time to be appreciated as a teacher (nowadays, many teachers in the USA are not given the respect they deserve) and fall in love with a handsome Mountie. (This book series was also turned into a great show. I would definitely recommend you check it out!)
10. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen ==> I chose this book really for the same reason as #9. Because I am in love with the time period, at least what we see from the limited perspectives of characters like Elizabeth and Jane Bennet.
What books awaken the travel bug in you, whether it be to another country or back in time? Leave your answer as a comment below.
I would love to simply get out of my state at this point, but Europe would be amazing. The book I started this morning is set in Long Beach, which actually is a doable vacation for me!
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thanks!

Wouldn’t it be great to visit the setting of a book though, even if it’s still in the same state?!?!

I would love to go to Tuscany-in fact I really just want to explore more of Italy, I went on a school trip to Naples which was amazing but we kind of stuck to the Naples area mostly, so I’d love to get to explore more.
