The Friday 56 (#8)

Rules:The Friday 56
*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader
(If you have to improvise, that’s ok.)
*Find any sentence, (or few, just don’t spoil it) that grab you.
*Post it.
*Add your (url) post below in Linky. Add the post url, not your blog url. It’s that simple.

The Friday 56 is a weekly meme hosted by Freda’s Voice where I’ll post a sentence of two from page 56 of either the book I’m currently reading or a random book from my shelf. If you would also like to participate, click the link to the host’s blog page.

Holly(Woods)2

Holly(Woods) – by Naomi Laeuchli

“Her thoughts were interrupted by her name, and she turned around to see the very person she had been thinking about jogging towards her.

‘Mr. Ryder,’ she stammered, feeling flustered, unsure why and annoyed at herself.

‘Alan,’ he insisted. ‘I wanted to say congratulations.’

‘What for?’

‘Your first scene on the show. You’re one of us now. And don’t worry; we have no weird hazing rituals. We’re all very adult here as we play cowboys and Indians.’ He grinned, and Holly felt herself relaxing slightly as she laughed. ‘Anyways, I just wanted to let you know, I’m having a party at my house this weekend. You should come. A lot of people from the show will be there, it’ll be a good chance for you to get to know some of them.’

‘Oh… I don’t know.’ “

    • At first, I wasn’t too sure whether or not I liked Laeuchli’s writing style, but the book is definitely getting better…though I’ll admit I’m a little anxious over this cliffhanger I’ve been hearing about. I hate cliffhangers; they’re bad for my nerves. 😛

      • Yes, I agree. At first, it was hard to get into the story, but later on it gets better. Yeah, the cliffhanger is, in my opinion, so irritating, not because it exists, but because the characters act in such a stupid way to bring it about. You have to tell me what you think!
