Thursday Thoughts (#7): Book Tastes

Thursday Thoughts is an original, weekly meme hosted by Ok, Let’s Read where I’ll post my thoughts on whatever topic is thrown at me. If you would also like to participate, find out the rules by clicking here.

This Week’s Topic:

Currently, do you feel like you have a set genre or type of book that is your go-to and people know as “your genre?” Is there a genre that you’ve always loved or been drawn to in particular? Have you noticed your taste in books changing over time? Is there a genre or type of book that you used to love, but no longer read/enjoy? If so, what genre and why do you think that is?

My Thoughts:

You’ve probably noticed already that, whether in reading or writing, my favorite genre is fantasy fiction. I’ve always favored this genre, but back when I was younger, it was the only genre I read. I’m pretty stubborn that way. I liked what I liked, and there was no changing me.

I believe my taste in books started developing more once I started my high school level literature classes. I realized how much I enjoyed the majority of the classics we were required to read and wondered what else was out there. Though fantasy fiction will always be the genre I prefer, I’ve also become highly interested in creative nonfiction/memoir works.

  1. I don’t know if I have a go to genre atm, but maybe I do as I do love dystopian. But, if I am honest, I have been reading a lot less of it lately as I got a bit sick of them. I have started reading more fantasy and have been really enjoying it.
