Booking Through Thursday is a weekly meme about (mostly) books and reading hosted by Booking Through Thursday where I’ll answer whatever question is thrown at me. If you would also like to participate, find out the rules by clicking the link to the host’s blog page.
This Week’s Question:
Do you still get excited about new books as you did when you were little? In general? New books in particular, like from a favorite author? Or do you look at all new, unread books with the same level of anticipation?
I generally get excited over any potential reads that seem to interest me. There’s nothing like opening up a brand new book by an unread author with no prior knowledge of where it may take me…how I’ll approve of the writing style…or whether or not the story will be too predictable. And though this straight-spine, lip-bitting, prickling expectancy thrills me, there’s a whole different type of pleasure that emerges from reading work written by an author I revere. One whose novels I’ve cherished time and time again. One whose words are familiar to me and consistently leaves me submerged in comfort.
What books excite you the most? How would you rate this enthusiasm? Leave a comment below.
